Hi folks,

Am looking for some helpful advice on company registration.....

I am now in a position where I need to register a company name (Ltd) and am seeking any pointers....

Has anyone used any of the online companies that offer a 'fast company registration' service for fees between 50 and 200 quid, or should I avoid them like the plague??

Don't want to get screwed over before I even get started!!!

Any recommendations will be greatly received...

Thanks
JohnR

If you want to use someone to do the paperwork for you I have a client that does it. I'm reliably informed they're very good and charge £50 ish + VAT - I think! Feel free to mail me if you'd like their details.

The cheaper option is to get the forms from Co House and do it yourself.

The accountant I used, did it free (but you had to select from a list of about 6 company names), so long as you use them for 12 months.
They charged 50GBP + VAT per month to do all my (IT) company stuff. It is all by post, but I was happy with the service.

Let me know if you want details.

I've used www.uk-plc.net a few times now. They cost about £50 and are very quick and easy...

I was a bit daunted at the prospect of registering a Ltd company for the first time and was seriously considering getting someone else to do it but in the end I found a company formation pack from WHSmiths for £9.99 which has all the forms you need and advice on how to fill them in. Was a piece of cake in the end.

The only outside help that I had to get was for the forms to be checked over and signed by a solicitor. I just phoned up the nearest one to my work, asked if he'd do it, no problem, that'll be a fiver please. Job done.

One thing though - make sure you take a copy of the articles of association and memorandum (I made a mental note to but forgot) now I have to pay a fee to companies house to get copies.
