I have just got off the phone after a big argument from a supplier,

Can any one recommend a supplier of sony products???

Also is there any thing to say that if i want to become a stockist for product x. The distributor/manufacturer is un willing to sell to my company as they have there number of dealers for the area. I have walked around the other dealers and have looked trough there prices and they are full MRRP i know how much this product costs the Trade and i can charge say 25% less and still make a profit to cover operating costs. This personally looks like collusion to stop other people coming on the scene.

Just rather pi55ed off now

Thats the way of the world tho, happens in every sector, the only cause of depreciation, is dealers dropping prices, if no dealer dropped their prices, things wouldnt depreciate as much, but the purchasing consumer wouldnt also get as good a deal initially.

The only person to really benefit from depreciation is the second hand buyer.

You could try and have them investigated for price fixing, but it would be hard to prove

You can understand why they wouldnt want you as a dealer tho, if you plan instantly to lop 25% of the price, it will piss off every other stockist in the country.

Shame ;(

Thankfully AV sales is only a fraction of my business. When people can go on the internet and get a plasma at trade price from a big outfit that sells direct with no scruples, there's no margin for anyone else.

That's why prices are coming down and boxes are moving but no-ones making much money. And with prices falling all the time, people actually hold off buying because it will be 'cheaper next month'....

Great for the buyers it the short term, but what's it doing for the economy? Less profit = fewer jobs = less spending money = lower prices = lower profit...

problem is that i am not a high street sotckist, I have a warehouse with 2 dem rooms and a reasonable size showroom. But rather than making an appointment to see my shop etc they just said over the phone no dont want no one else.

I have also written a letter to the office of fair trading mentioning price fixing and also mentioning Competition Act 1998 "agreeing to limit or control production, markets, technical development or investment" They are controling te market for there goods.

See what happens now but on this occasion it is not sony that are the problem they said try this supplier which i did but they were idiots so i want another supplier. This is a smaller UK firm that is not willing to sell
