Balance Sheets & Tax

I am putting together a balance sheet for the small charity I am treasurer for and am suffering through lack of knowledge when it comes to working out tax & NI liability.
I have figures for-
Tax deducted from wages (employers & employees)
NI deducted from wages
Tax Credit funding received from Inland Revenue
Tax paid to IR in financial year
Tax credit paid to employess
I can't get my balance sheet to balance and it's the tax liability which is throwing it out. I believe I've received much more funding for tax credits than I have paid net which may be why I can't work it out.
Any suggestions?
