Has anyone got any experience with folder/inserter/franking machines?

We're thinking about getting one but are concerned about the reliability issues with sticking paper from a laser printer etc ...

Positive or negative feedback greatly appreciated

We've got one, but its probably a little larger than you would like.

Its an amazing bit of kit, but then you would expect it for deep into 7 figures.

My experience with document automation has been good on the whole, reliabilty is a key component in the marketplace so most manufacturers have elevated that to be their main point.

Thought about outsourcing it?

We currently let the office owner (serviced office) do the franking for us (small surcharge), and an old dear does the folding/inserting/sealing as an overnight service(reliably I must say, and not a huge cost).

But we're at the point where a move to automation is looking cost-effective and certainly more labour efficient and I do like the idea of picking mail-shots off the printer, stacking em on a machine and then just posting the results....

Technically its up to 5 sheets of A4 into a C5 envelope, in batches of up to 200 envelopes, with a volume of around 4000 envelopes a month (but you gotta allow for growth ) Oh, and it'll be leased equipment, not bought, but indicative price is under £10k for the whole thing combined.

The answer has been given to you above MM. Plug time again but we do many mailing for clients, for example its Christmas Card day for me today.

You mention numbers of 4000 a month - one of the benefits we can give customers is the saving in postage. You may be aware of the discounts the royal mail can give - for example the cards we are mailing are in Mailsort 3 which gives our clients up to 20 per cent saving.

I'd gladly do some costings for you just for your information.

Regards

Simon
