We need to start paying some one for a few hours a week to keep sage up todate, do a little invoicing and run the month end.

Anyone got any idea of rate??

If its any help I pay a guy £90 per month and he comes in for about 2.5 hrs every week (more if needed at different times of year ie PAYE returns)he keeps a full set of manual records as a backup to mine on Sage.

£5.50 to £6.50 per hour, depending on experience?

That is about it in the North West anyway.

What level of skills are you after? Book-keepers come in all shapes, sizes, skill levels, abilities etc.

Someone with basic cash book skills - £10 to £15 per hour
Someone with the ability to post to ledgers control and reconcile them, draft a Trial balance and maybe draft accounts, be knowledgeable of computerised systems - you're looking at anything from £15 to £50.

My sister, who's been doing this stuff for about 10 years on Sage etc, charges £15 to £18 per hour depending on complexity and the state you're books are in when she gets hold of them.
