Looking to add a selection of PDAs and accessories to what we sell already (mobile stuff)

Is there much margin in these, or is it not worth the hassle?

Don't know about the margins but I would say there is a need for a decent retailer. They appear not to have a "natural home" - i.e: computer retailers or mobile phone retailers - and where they are sold, the staff have no knowledge of what they can do.

I think there's potential for re-selling these as part of a 'solution sell', really depends what market you're in. You might attract some SOHO/SME early adopters as part of a wireless solution. There might not be much margin in the device as a stand-alone but if it's part of say, a warehouse management system, then you can pile on services like config and installation.

Thanks guys, comments appreciated. Would be trying to do a bit more than shift boxes, so glad to see I'm on the right track.

Cheers

which ever disty you use check out their returns policy. a lot of them want the original unit first unless you pay for an advance replacement.

i've been stung with this a few times. having to buy a new unit to replace a poorly but functioning unit and then it taking 2 months to get creditied with the cash back !!!

And i've had quite a few pds's go back.

Good luck i've never found a decent margin on this stuff. there always seems to be some dodgey internet company flogging retail at lower than reseller buy price !!!!!

Having spoke to my supplier, he informs me there is sod all margin, as some big players (carphone warehouse etc) have come in with masses of buying power and really brough the high street price down.

As part of a solution then I am sure there is some market there.

Yeah have now completed signing up with a few of the official distibutors and their trade prices are roughly the same as Amazon and Expansys retail prices!

I've looked at this and getting stock from Hong Kong/China where the goods are very cheap (for this type of stuff it is anyway) and decided that it wasn't worth the hassle and that there would be little money to be made.

However, if anybody knows any buyers in clothing retail then I've got an interesting proposition...
