My IT agency, has just gone into receivership.
At the moment they are not answering phones (noone there anymore i think)...i also have noone to send a timesheet to. Except for a subsidary that is still running, with whom i do not have a direct contract.
They say to deal with them bu i am not so sure.
At the end of this month my contract is supposed to be renewed. I will also want to bill someone for septeber so i can get paid.
Anyone any idea whether it would be ok to go to another agency at this point? And maybe to backdate it to the start of this month so i can bill the new agancy, as i want to make sure i get paid for this month. Or to put 0 hrs for sept and put the hrs in oct with new agency instead?
Am i still legally bound to the company in receivership if it is in receivership, and not able at the present time to perform all it's functions?
I have spoke to the receivers and all they say is that they are lookign for a buyer and can't advise any further.
I would prefer to just walk...but not sure how this is legally.
Any help much appreciated!

If the company is in receivedship then yes you can walk, but you will risk taking you place in the queue for any fees due.
If you go with the subsidary you are fairly likey to get paid....
another solution would be to talk directly to the company you are contracted to, and establish a direct contract also find out what they have already paid the agency and see if you can get them to settle your outstanding fees directly if not already paid to the agent etc.
Just googled their website, it says "On 15th September 2003, SBS Group plc announced the disposal of its UK staffing business to the InterQuest Group." www.interquestgroup.com/
Maybe they are taking over the contracts?
Maybe they are taking over the contracts?
According to an article on ContractorUK (click here) SBS have been bought, so presumably all contracts will be transferred to the new owners.
Edit: The new owners being InterQuest, as pointed out by FourWheelDrift.
