Flash web design
Discussion
I'm thinking of starting a small Flash web design business that builds Flash menu systems and animation for small businesses. Not so much back end stuff, but innovative and quirky ways of attracting attention.
I'm trying to build an 'off the shelf' menu system in Flash that can be adapted into various guises which would reduce production.
So...anybody own a small business? I just wanted to know what sole traders etc are prepared to pay for a solid site.
Cheers

there's that too.
for instance (personal experience here) a car dealer would be more impressed if you scanned a pic of a car that his 4 yr old daughter drew in crayon and make it look like its driving back and forth than say a content managment system that allowed him to update his webpages with stock and latest news. (i did care, but i dont any more, i just find it amusing)

If you have a talent for Flash programming and design you might want to consider producing menu plugins etc for resale to other web design companies.
In much the same way as I buy software components as a developer for use in bespoke projects, designers may buy in small elements of flash code.
They'd have to be cheap and sold on mass but this may open the way for larger pieces of work to be commissioned.
No idea if this type of stuff is 'out there' for free though?

Most small business "don't get" the importance of any web site design and so will be difficult to sell a concept to them and if you do, it will probably be at a price that will fail to make you a decent living. (We've tried!!).
Same here.

Open source code, tutorials and components are all over the web.
Flashkit is the most established.
Theres a lot of this on the web already, most of it's free, and a lot of it is very good. As others said maybe producing components for download and collecting something like a 10$ fee per download might be an idea, but with so much free stuff out there you wouldn't be making much cash....
