You might try a shipping container if it would fit.

You can get jumbo containers but not knowing their size, or the dimensions of the boat, I could be talking through my ar**!

indeed there are many boat shipping specialists around, another option is to pay a skipper to sail it over for you

Wouldn't like to sail a 32 footer across the Atlantic !! They may be a lot cheaper becuase of VAT and import duties. It depends where you're going to keep it. You'll almost certainly have to pay VAT if you bring it into the UK. I know that Malta currently has an amnesty and you can bring any boat there duty free.

Thought about buying one for 9/mnths or a year as I have never really traveled, would resell in the same country if tax is a problem.
Anyone know if any frther survey would be required for europe?
If I do this at all it will be in a years time so plenty of time to plan/dream.
Cheers and thanx

If you are insuring your boat you will need a recent survey (in the last 1 or 2 years). There is no requirement for a survey if you are taking a boat anywhere (afaik) in europe.
Usually prospective buyers will get a survey as I wouldn't trust a survey that an owner had as it only reflects a snapshot of the boat at that point in time.

If you need any survey info mail me through my profile and I can put you in touch with a YBDSA surveyor.

If you ever need a survey make sure the surveyor is a member of the YBDSA (Yacht Builders, Designers and Surveyors Association). It's a bit like getting a non-chartered building surveyor to look over your house.
