Property abroad

Hi All,

Are any of you chaps / chapesses in to property abroad?

I'm considering the idea of a place in Austria but I haven't got a clue where to start.

Any advice / web sites of interest would be appreciated.

I don't know the Austrian house market, but Germany eg. is totally different to the UK. Most people rent a flat/house especially in rural areas. House price are very stable (5%-ish growth usually, but depends on area).

If I'd plan to invest in property abroad, I'd travel there and have a look at which area best suits me, and which type of house looks approriate
Maybe some real estate magazine does specials about certain countries, which contain insider tips about the local circumstances?

Thanks for that - I already know where it wants to be and in fact I will be going there in February.

I was just seeing if I could arm myself with all the necessary info before getting there!
