Where can I advertise online, for free or very cheaply, until I can afford to advertise on places like PH?
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Alan

What is it you're trying to advertise?

Google's Adwords scheme can be very effective as its highly targeted (you buy keywords so your advert is only shown if someone searches for the word you buy) you can also target by country, but it only suits some sites, for example one shop I work with is an online homeopathic store, for this it is very good as not many people bid on the more obscure keywords (market forces determine the price) and the returns are quite good. Something like car parts would suit this as well.

On the other hand with things like hosting, ringtones, porn, domain names etc the bids can get very expensive.

Oh and if you do go down this path remember to double check that you have limited your budget, you don't have to pay up front and if you don't set a limit the bill can get VERY high.

BTW the ads are the little text based ones on the right when you do a search on google, not banner ads so this might be irrelevant to you!

Hi, I have used this, but its currently suspended. Not enough sales per click, and the clicks are expensive because its very competative.

Alan,

Take a look at google adwords

https://adwords.google.co.uk/select/

another good trick to is do auctions for small items on ebay and add your URL as your location, can bring in a fair bit of focused traffic

Also mail me a banner or 2 and URL i will place a few on my site for you FOC
