Just developing my new website and my latest resource I want to sell on line as individual copies. My previous software has been sold via order and invoices to schools but this feature will be useful for students and parents to buy direct. Having looked around I found that paypal seems to be the most reasonable. ie no excessive setup fees etc.

Has anyone else used this service? are there any comments good and/or bad?

Thanks.

I've used Paypal as a private buyer and seller and have found it simple to use and very reliable. It does exactly what it says on the tin.

I'm sure it's just as good for trade accounts as the interface seems generally very intuitive.

The percentage rate for credit cards may be higher than you could get with another company, but I believe that PayPal is more recognized globally than most other services.

www.paypalsucks.com/

It seems that unlike any merchant taking a credit card, Pay Pal does not protect the transaction. So if you sell something on eBay through PayPal, and PayPal tells you the sale is OK, that's not necessarily so. So you can send the goods and sometime after (weeks) PayPal can suck the money back from you if the card is fradulent.

I to use it privately for buying/selling easy to use never had a problem yet, although if you receive money from another country the charges/exchange rates are a bit steep never the less its quite handy

What do PayPal charge? I use a system that is £70 to setup, £20 a month and then 17p per transaction, regardless of cost.
On transaction over £2 or so it worked cheaper than most others I looked at.
Email me through profile if you want details.

Check out www.paypalwarning.com, someone used a stolen card on me once and froze my account. It had about $ 3000 in it. To clear the account they ask for all sorts of personal info like bank statements, photocopies of driving licences etc etc in short it was a complete nightmare as I had to fax everything thru a zillion times and got nowhere, yet my account is still closed and I've given up with them.
