Right guys we have had a prolonged period since the Starmerlin got in of nothing but bad news. Could 2026 finally see an uplift in consumer confidence? Labour hopefully have their ideological bits done and will just step back from too much meddling now. We're likely to see a significant reduction in interest rates and Starmerlin being replaced in the coming year. Could this translate into something positive for us? What are your plans and strategy in your business for 26?

It's exciting times for us as we are going into something totally new with a big commercial development. I hope there are still lots of business owners what will be wanting space to work in! Car biz we are looking to maintain and just keep it interesting/fun no plans for growth there at all.

I will be happy to survive next year!

Just can’t see much confidence in the market but you never know, we came through the GFC ok & boomed after it!

Glass almost 1/2 full! Happy new year everyone

Resilient optimism is my middle name, I’m steering a project for a 20 year old kid that will be a national brand next year I’m sure of it. Loads of stuff going on and every client started in 2025 is still in the game.

Everyone has an advantage they can earn from - everyone

To be fair I don't have staff and have dodged any of the crazily large businesses rates increases so slightly less of a challenge but going into a whole new sector is daunting and exciting in equal measure.

Can't stand still in business can we? Got to keep moving forward and adapting despite the current Government's best efforts.

Strange one for me as my own business I could see either get better or completely fall away.

The other half though has recently decided to scale her business, which I’m helping with, and it will just go from strength to strength without doubt, with a view to selling in 2028, either in part or in full.

Retirement is my next big business goal but I have to agree about the opportunities that are currently available, I’ve run my own small business for 35 years and now is the best it has ever been.

I'm positive. Tax receipts on the up, government is spending. We've been stuck at £49-50 last couple of years, Jan forecast looks like a £70 year. Fingers crossed.

It’s a strange time for the business insurance market, with premiums falling (average year on year is down 11% in the uk)

However, we’ve beaten all our, sales and service targets..by some margin. The bit we have struggled to do this year is make a third acquisition?

So, with a bit of optimism, we are forecasting/hoping for, 18/ 22% organic growth, and another acquisition or two.

Business insurance premiums falling? confused

Has anyone told the customers yet? laugh

I deal with two separate sets of business insurance from different brokers and they both went up on renewal this year.

The core business (professional services)

Unsurprisingly a great number of clients aren’t having the best time, were looking to give some free advice to help turn things around for them.

Also seeing record numbers of clients retiring early.

I’m forecasting no revenue growth next year.

Side business (business supplies)

Started Q2 last year, got a decent manager overseeing it and it’s making a profit and growing organically.

Looking to buy a property to house it, we should be able to triple the turnover next year without any effort, but I’d like to get to 100k a month while maintaining margins.

Well, here we go again! Starting off next year with my 4th business venture, and honestly, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Yeah, two of my previous attempts didn't pan out, but those "failures" taught me more than any success ever could have. I learned what works, what doesn't, and most importantly, what not to do again.

Each time I've gotten back up, I've been smarter, more focused, and more realistic about what it takes. This time around, I'm not just hopeful—I'm actually prepared. The lessons from the past are baked into this new venture, and I'm ready to put them to work.

Here's to taking another shot and making it count.

Every year I seem to have to work harder to do same business I'll take 2026 being in ballpark of 2025, though the consultancy side of business seems to be sprouting legs.

Judging by the month-on-month performance in the economy, the ~£1bn fall in Boxing day transactions, the falling inflation and interest rates (yes I know these are good but it's an indicator); I think it's about 100% certain we're in a recession. Hardly surprising when the party, I'm sorry, Herr Sturmbannführer's commissariat, has done what they've done to the country, the economy, the tax base, the middle classes, and the business owners.

All jokes aside; if you voted not only should you hang your head in shame, you should consider never participating in politics ever again. Ever.

Happy to have a look at them for you, but we are definitely in a soft insurance market.

This feels more like a post for NP&E rather than positivity for 2026.
