Ebay Taking Your Funds For Cancellations - Not Pending Funds

I had a buyer cancel immediately after buying - due to a mistake

Not that unusual

But with this new system Ebay refunded him with MY balance rather than - as I would expect - actually refunding his "pending funds"

So he has my money

Ebay have his money

I have "pending funds"

I've spent 30 minutes on the phone to ebay and they assure me that this is how the system works and that I should get his "pending funds" in the next 48 hours or so
