I have a pocket landline with EE. It was a physical line with BT before this (with area code). It's gone up each year with inflation (plus change) so is expensive now. EE retentions say it's not their call (they do deals on mobile/data sims etc) and any token discounts from tech don't do enough damage limitation.

Occasionally customers will tell me they couldn't get through on the phone when they tried the day before. If I test myself it's rare there is still a problem - but occasionally it doesn't work. Sometimes it's 50/50 if the call connects and other times it just drops the call without connecting. With wealthy and sometimes elderly customers I can't really go to them for the extent of reports that EE want, and I'm likely not aware of when it's not working - so I need to move it away.

I have some other numbers with Twilio (recommended on PH years ago) and am a big fan, but can't port in existing UK numbers. EE don't charge anything beyond the monthly, and Twilio fees are teeny (or were in the old days, looks like monthly fee on top now).

Any recommendations for someone I can port the number to?

We've used Dial9 for company Sip trunk and to replace domestic landlines. £4.99/mo + calls. Very helpful UK tech support.
