Bought a pair of trainers from eBay - they did not go through the Authenticity process, it was delivered to me straight from the seller.

Trainers arrived and they were as expected apart from they were a half a size smaller than what the seller had listed them as. Surprisingly they came in the blue eBay bag that you get when sending through authentication, and one of the shoes had a tag with a barcode and another tag with the eBay logo and QR code. I scanned the QR code and it was from the authenticator saying they had to return the shoes to the buyer because the description did not meet the advert description but these did not go through authentication when they came to me.

What i think has happened is that the seller had sold the shoes previously with authenticity guarantee, the authenticators sent it back to him because the actual shoes and the advert show different sizes (albeit half a size). I believe the seller has then used the original advert to re-list the item without authenticity guarantee but has not amended the size (the pictures in the advert don't show the barcode tag and eBay QR code tag) and has just sent me exactly what the authenticators sent to him i.e. in the bag and not removing any tags etc.

I can scan the QR code which says the authenticator has sent them back due to a discrepancy between the item and the advert - it doesn't mention anything about being fakes, does this mean they are genuine because it hasn't been explicitly motioned?

Also how can I find out what the barcode means or info contained within - didn't work with any barcode scanners I have.

p.s. I can return the trainers, seller has mentioned its not an issue.

p.p.s. he asked me if they fit, which they do, and they're not a common design so would like to keep them if possible but not if they're not genuine.
