Amex and decisions about 2-4-1 vouchers.

HI fellow Avios collectors, I very nearly missed out on a companion voucher on my wife's BA card(I had to spend £8000+ to get the voucher in 4 weeks). We're waiting on her voucher to appear on her executive club dashboard just now. The wife's card will be parked until September as if we start using now the voucher will be live way before August, were back to Capetown in August 2026 so want to use the voucher for this trip.
My card year starts in May so ill also need to park the card as to not go over the £10000 spend to activate the voucher which I won't be able to use(I lost one last month as the date ran out) Ive looked at the Nectar card Amex and it gives 2 points per pound spend and 3 points at Nectar partners... would you use this card??? I still need to add Avios points so need a suitable card?


TLDR: Two BA avois cards parked, I need to collect avios points..

I’m a little confused. When the voucher appears on your wife’s account that starts the 2 years validity ticking. You seem to be implying that there is another trigger after it appears on your wife’s account that starts the 2 yr clock ticking.

Just keep using the cards, you may end up with a second companion voucher by then anyways.

If you are looking to actually fly in 2026, then you'll be looking to use the voucher and book ideally about 10-11 months before to ensure you get an available seat.. So sometime in 2025 is when you would book? My understanding is points seats get released about a year in advance.

Are both cards linked to the same amex account?

We both have our own Amex accounts and are joint on each other's.

After a lot of refreshing the ba app last night her voucher appeared, managed to get clubworld to Capetown in August for 450£ plus 100000 avios, 3x people. Only a few seats remaining so very fortunate.
I can sort one issue by not using the wife's card till this September,.this will give us a two year window so we can use the voucher in 2026 August. Or 2025 if we want to use it then.
I would like to align both of our vouchers so need an avios card to use from may(my renewal date) to September. So our vouchers are issued in similar months. I can get the 10000£ x2 needed for the voucher in 6-7weeks for both.

Has anyone got the nectar Amex card? Linking points to avios.

We have to take holidays in August, sorry I didn't mention this before, my wife is from Cape Town so we visit every other year. The other years holiday is normally in Europe.
