might be worth looking at how much local removal companies charge for storage

Typical is per pallet per week + RH&D, receiving, handling & delivery I.e. a charge for moving stock in & out of site. If your stuff isn't on pallets, you'll need to negotiate. Pallet rates should be around the £1.50-£2.50 level, similar for RH&D. Obvs this can vary depnding on where you are, volumes, ease of handling and so on. Warehousing for the most part is standardised to handle pallets, bulk storage & IDW, irregular weights & dimensions is all bespoke quotable.

How much are you looking to store on an ongoing basis?

Can it be palletised in racking or do you need it to be stored on the floor?

Thanks all
to put a bit more perspective on it. i currently warehouse and deliver goods on behalf of a customer. i charge them to store the goods but dont think i am charging enough - which is why i was trying to see if there was / is a going rate for this sort of thing

There is a going rate

But it depends on how much and in what format the goods are being stored in

I've seen £3.50 per pallet recently (low volumes, not very automated, so probably could be cheaper).

It's usually costed per pallet per week, and would depend upon how much effort you are willing to put in handling them. Pallets straight in/out are relatively easy; pulling a pallet down to allow someone to pick through it, costs more.

Not to be awkward but insurance/fire risk and other factors should also be considered. one of our warehouses had a lot of furniture and needed upgrading on the fire protection at the insurers insistence. It was a 60 000 sq m building so potentially a lot to go up in flames and furniture with a lot of wood foam and textiles is a higher risk item for them
