Thank you.

I'm feeling quite lost and could really use some help – thanks in advance.

I'm in London, and I need to file a small claims court claim against a company based in Northern Ireland. However, I'm facing an issue with the government portal, which won't let me proceed because it states that the defendant must have an address in England.

To provide some context, I purchased windows from a Northern Ireland-based company, and I'm now seeking legal action due to faulty windows.

The claim amount is for 10k

I presume you aren’t using the Northern Ireland version of small claims? Easy to find via google. Note they have a £5k limit

Have you tried a "letter before action" first with a 7 day response - can sharpen minds, and as small claims you don't need a solicitor?

  • Hint* You need to file the claim in the court closest to the business. It stops them claiming travel expense to attend court.

my claim is 10k.....as mentioned Nothern ireland has a 5k limit.

I may reduce my claim amount to 5k and take it through small claims court. seem otherwise i risk losing alot more in costs etc going through za normal court with a solictor. Thanks
