I was reading an article earlier about starting a business. One of the points made was that a lot of people assume a new business has to come to market with a new idea that hasn't been done before, whereas in reality an established market means it's a viable idea - you just need to do it better / faster / cheaper.

On that note, what businesses or services do you think are ripe for disruption? What problems haven't been solved?

Having been here - https://jollynicefarmshop.com/pages/drive-through-... earlier today, I'm surprised there aren't more in a similar vein. Basically an upmarket drive through. Not cheap, not fast, but the food was very good indeed. It was busy too. If I lived nearer I would be in there all the time.

The English house buying process. Despite Rightmove disrupting the information side of things, it is a mess. But probably needs government intervention (eg to mandate meaningful home report done by the seller, with very chunky penalties if you ‘forget’ to mention the subsidence issue)

Interesting. Only about half an hour from me and I've never been. I think I will do though!

Great example. It is a hugely long, painful and expensive process, and it really doesn't need to be.

Do ! It is the antithesis of a McDonalds drive through. I believe they started it during lockdown and it worked, so they carried on.

I want a company online that will source and sell me all the bits for e.g. replacing the shocks on my cars. I would cheerfully pay a premium to not have to fk around trying to find all the part numbers and sourcing them from six different places then accidentally ordering a washer from Lithuania and having to wait three weeks for it.

Yes, but that's a legislative thing rather than disruptive. The likes of purple bricks etc tried to be that.

The meat and other stuff from the farm shop was very nice. Not the cheapest, but good quality. Currently stuffing my face with a sausage roll from there biggrin
