Hi all,

I currently work as part time a QHSE manager for a small firm that was bought over by a big company. Whilst I feel my position is safe, they are currently rinsing the business they have bought and it looks bleak for some around me.

It has always been my intention to build up some experience in auditing (it is as exciting as it sounds!) and get myself some clients which would allow me to work as an independent consultant helping businesses get ISO 9001/14001/45001 accreditation, and do periodic internal audits/represent the businesses when being externally audited.

I have already got my first client, and am looking to have a website made that will have a CTA to leave contact details for me to discuss providing services to help prospective new clients get the standard they want and/or maintain their accreditation.

I know a little about SEO/GMB and essentially I plan to have a website made, add a monthly blog post which (I think) will help with my google ranking, and link the blog post to a LinkedIn business page, and also link to my Google My Business page.

I would appreciate if there are any companies you would recommend, or if you have used anyone on here and had a good experience could you please let me know.

Thank you!

Congrats on the new venture.

You'll be able to get something that looks professional using SquareSpace or Framer and selecting one of their templates. You don't need any coding/technical ability to use them and they have cheap monthly subscriptions.

I personally prefer Framer as think the SquareSpace designs are now all a bit same-y, but it's probably a little bit harder to use than SquareSpace for a beginner.

I'd avoid getting something built custom as it would be relatively more expensive and also more annoying for maintenance if you need to contact the designer every time you want something updated or changed.

Happy to give any pointers.

This!

If you really need someone else to do it, Namesco offer a 'let us build it service' for around £400.

Thanks both.

Appreciate the suggestion. My issue is how will I get up the 'google rankings' for search terms like: "ISO Consultant near me" or "9001 auditor central scotland"... I realise I can make a website using framer, but is not the value of the website builder the ability to steer the client in the way of optimising SEO and getting up on to page 1 of google etc?

Thank you again!

No. If a product could do that everyone would be using it - but there's only 1 company ranking #1 for any given term. An off the shelf website builder isn't going to get you there on it's own.

For "9001 auditor central scotland" this company seems to be your competition https://qcsl.co.uk/ - assuming they're an established company why would google send their users to your new site rather than this established one? They wouldn't - at least not at first. In google's eyes you're a pig in a poke.;

Assuming you've got a bit of a budget I'd be trying some adwords to gauge the market/amount of traffic and whether visits to your site convert in to leads. You'll probably lose some money at the first but the idea is to optimise your site for converting visits -> leads. You can't optimise a site without throwing traffic at the site - and you can't get traffic in the early days without paying for it.

In tandem with optimising your site start establishing yourself in the market. Your blog idea would be a good start but ideally more than once per month. Maybe there's some activity on twitter in your space? If so get in that mix too.

Thanks, yes I figure I will probably have to pay for ads in order to get seen. I actually did my lead auditor training with QCSL, they seem to be more on the training side which is probably great money spinner. Their day rates for consulting was pretty hefty so if I can come in there somewhere a bit under and still offer value then hopefully it would be successful.
