I need to make a business customs declaration for an item being exported, and being collected by
a third party on behalf of the purchaser..

I've attempted to make the declaration myself for the 'New Export System'
but despite having all the required weird government's acronyms numbers
(EORI, TURN, CHIEF, THSBHKA etc. etc. etc.), I can get no further and ...
..... I've lost the will to live !

In this situation, if the 3rd party is being employed by the purchaser then we tell the purchaser it is down to them to arrange the export entry, we will only release the goods when we are given a copy of the export entry advice docs from Chief, otherwise they get charged VAT. Not had to do it with CDS yet.

CDS ..... I thought that CHIEF could be used until the end March of next year, but now I see on another government website that it can't be used after the end of September this year - so back to square one as I doubt that deadline can be made !

But in either case, CHIEF or CDS: I'm selling items that require special handling to a museum in Europe and the museum have no experience of dealing with imports from the UK since the inception of BREXIT, and so they cannot sort the UK Export paperwork.

The third party who is coming to collect the items is a specialist restorer/conservator who has no experience of bureaucracy of any kind, and so he can't do it either.
So it's down to me and I'm struggling, which is why I think that the only way forward is a Customs Agent.

We use these guys https://www.laserint.co.uk/

Have always been helpful (from what I hear - I don’t deal directly with this side of business)

Great - I'll give them a call after the Bank Holiday weekend.

Just picking up on these parts of your post, you might be better trying to find specialists who work for auction houses - they will have both the experience and ability to ship into Europe, but it could be quite costly. They'll also be used to sorting out the paperwork.

Thanks for the suggestion S.A. It's just the paperwork side of things that I require.
