There seems to be a plethora of companies selling gas and electricity contracts to the business market

is there a market for brokers targeting residential customers? doesnt seem to be any info online

it used to be a thing where you were paid say a couple of hundred per account and now that everybody is wanting to reduce their bills it looks like a possible venture going forwards

Problem is that consumers consume less and therefore the commission you get may just not be worth the effort.

Thought Uswitch, Money Supermarket and the like were the "brokers", at least until 90% of the suppliers went under?

I thought the days of cold callers asking 'Would you like to save money on your energy bills?' was over. I used to reply, 'No thanks, I'm loaded' biggrin

The issue with residential brokerage is that you'd be lucky to make £10 commission for each contract you switched.

Hence Uswitch was set up, by the big energy firms. And they've cornered the market. Until money supermarket came along.

Technically energy companies make a loss on selling energy top domestic customers (paperwork and admin mainly), but it's a necessary evil for them as the government tell energy companies they have to offer a domestic product.
