Discussion
Just out of curiosity....
Chatting to a business associate we got to discuss E&OE on invoices and how it used to be used widely but rarely seen these days.
Does anyone still use it? Has anyone ever had cause to refer to it?
'Free estimates' was another topic - has anyone been charged for the preparation of an estimate?
Any other business 'oddities' past or present?

Back in the days when important stuff was done by fax, we received a fax that had been wrongly sent to us. Our receptionist phoned the sender to let them know they'd sent it to the wrong number. The sender was insistent that we fax it back to them!On the subjects of estimates, we had a great Christmas card from one of our suppliers. It said on the back 'Made from recycled estimates'.
I still have it on the quotation template that the bespoke software we use to handle sales, rolls out. I can change it manually but it's not something I ever considered altering. How much it legally reduces any liability if it were ever challenged these days I'm not really sure. But I'd hate to think I removed it from a quote for no particular reason and it was needed, even on just one occasion.
Another question, how do you sign off your business emails? I still use 'best regards' or 'kind regards'. Is that also a bit old-fashioned?

For signing emails
Within my own company, just my first name
Outside emails, first name last name
If someone has been helpful, just Regards.
Opening an email
Just first name. Very rarely someone has a name that I am not comfortable using, eg Charles Smith, known as Chuck S. Called him Mr Smith.
Buyers would be advised to reject documents with E and OE
