I have recently sold my Sports, trophy and Air Gun business as I have now retired, and whilst the vast majority of stock has been sold, i still have approx £15k worth of assorted sports goods (At retail price) I need to sell, as one job lot.

The stock is many and varied:-

Rugby Boots,
Boxing Boots, shorts, headguards, vests and gloves
Judo Suits
Darts
Footballs, Junior & senior
Snooker equipment
Swimwear, Kids, Mens & Ladies,
Masks & Snorkels
Referee shirts, Shorts and equipment,
Cricket Jumpers, Pants, shirts, Pads, Gloves, Protective shorts, Socks, Balls, scorebooks etc.
Goalkeeping shirts, Gloves, trousers,
Rugby Pads, shorts, gloves, boots,
Supports for virtually every part of the body,

All stock is brand new, branded and in perfect condition.

I think it would be ideal for start ups, existing sports shops or even market traders or car booters.

The obvious places to sell are Ebay, Facebook Marketplace, Amazon etc, but anyone have any other ideas?

Stock is in storage in The Manchester area.

Thanks in advance,

WR.

This.

Usually when someone buys a business they also want to buy the stock, the equipment, and anything else that makes business run.

In fact, when many small businesses are sold, the value is based on the value of the stock and equipment, as the name and goodwill is generally worth not a great deal.

Be nice to donate it to charity there are dozens that help deprived kids get into sports. It would also be a nice tax loss for you off your tax bill.

I didn't sell the business as a going concern, I just sold the (fairly large) property( which I bought in the early 1980's and owned outright), to an investor.

I have already donated around 2k worth of equipment to local schools and charities in the last few months.

Just need it all gone fairly quickly as a job lot.

Yes, cheers, I have received it,

I am away on holiday for 2/3 weeks tomorrow, but will have a full stocklist with quantities available when I return in e-mail form.

I would be happy to accept 7k to clear the lot, which would probably fill a Transit van.

Try a commercial auctions like Edison’s , it terribly hit and miss, the bigger the clag the better the price. From my experience there is an inverse correlation.
Low aggravation but at least it’s gone

I’ve got a friend who runs a business selling excess stock

http://www.rededgeconcepts.com/service/excess-stoc...

I’m sure he’d likely take it off your hands

Cheers both above, the auction route is last resort really, I'm not desperate to sell as there's not a lot of money involved, it's just in the way.

I am going go spend some time in the next couple of weeks transferring everything on to Google docs (or similar) showing items and quantities and at least people can see what there is.

New career time, start a TikTok shop - like QVC in the early days. You’ll love it and it’s amazing what sells. I’ve total amateurs on 500 orders a day, clued up types on 3000 plus a day. The audience is huge and makes digital marketing look so outdated.

Hi Dave,

Cheers for that , I've just retired and looking forward to getting out of the rat race, as lots of nice holidays planned, however if I get bored in a year or so, I might do a bit just to keep my hand in. Still got all my contacts in the trophy and airgun world.

Hope you are well.

What are the amateurs and the clued up selling?

Under £30 to under 30 mainly - I’m involved in sweets, cosmetics and accessories.

Thanks. Having hit a sweet spot online some years ago when e-commerce was new, I am fascinated by TikTok as it seems there are similar opportunities. Could I ask what accessories you are involved with?
