API feed for Website(s)
Discussion
Hi,
Our new till system has the ability to upload stock to websites via API. I’ve played with such a thing before but I’m now looking to take advantage of our new system and upload to more websites so I think I need a feed manager. I was looking at Channel Pilot (pro), but after trying to contact them without success, I’m looking at alternatives.
Needed are:
1- EU wide feed going to various websites in various countries. if possible with the ability to automatically translate.
2- manage pictures centrally.
Any providers I should be looking at? I’m Austria based, so an EU provider (or Uk provider with EU branch) would be best.
Any ideas, oh wise sages of PH?
Thanks
ET

I would be surprised if you can find anything off the shelf to do that.
What you need is a bespoke interface system that sits in between your system and the systems you are delivering the data to. That way, you can re-format it as required, translate, etc.
We do something very similar for a large motor parts system.
Try to find out what format / api is available from your system as this will help you to find the right type of company and skill sets. Happy to offer you advice on this to get you started.

Cheers Andy, much appreciated.
Off the back of your post, I found Channable. Because my till system has an api feed, I think it will have to go to Shopify first and then another feed to Channable or anywhere else. I’m also going to speak to my till supplier again because I think there is something I’m missing there too.
Thank again,
ET.

Thanks both of you for the support!
System is famowa https://www.famowa.com/ which is Austrian based.
Any tips on how to manage the pictures?
I think I have to set up a feed to Shopify and manage the pictures there, and then set up another feed to other websites?? We are talking a lot of pictures, one per item at least and I could potentially put anywhere from 100 until 1000 items online!

As I said, in my experience, there aren't any shortcuts for this kind of thing if you want it done properly and fully automated. System is famowa https://www.famowa.com/ which is Austrian based.

You will need a bespoke interface created, a server in a datacentre on a fast connection with a database.
I work for a company that has built a not dis-similar solution to what Andy has outlined.
We automate the data management around inventory to enhance it by providing images, up to date pricing, consumer readable descriptions ( including language translation), dimensions, stock levels, tech diagrams etc etc. Built it into a database (automatically) and then use an API to fire it into Shopify or similar. Updatable hourly with stock levels etc. Essentially we take disparate sources of data, linked by a common SKU and provide a 'single source of data'
Most of our projects handle 500,000 lines and we can upload in 20 mins.
However it's focused on the automotive industry.
But just to say, what you want does exist.
