Misuse of service address of a director

Anyone know if it is unlawful for a business to write to a director at the stated service address on Companies House, touting for business?

I don't know definitely but as it is public information, i'd be surprised if it were.

Perfectly normal. They'll also write to you at home if Co House has that info.

My beef is its a service address where serving of documents is required, it's not for general marketing and attempted sales.

If it's a paid for service address company being used, they only pass on genuine service items such as companies house/hmrc documents.

Others aren't sent through unless they are paying extra to use it as a mailing address as well.

It's public domain, therefore there can be no expectation of secrecy.

The director should ensure that the address is the same as either the registered office of the company (which is also public information) or the main trading address (if different from the registered office).

There is more awareness about privacy these days, so very normal now to have director addresses to be, eg. accountants premises.

Years ago it was not the same, so going back through a filing history, can sometimes still reveal a private address.

I have only found this out through interest. Have never had the intention of bothering anyone, but it seems once a private address has been filed, then it always remains public domain.
So easy to discover now of course. Years ago, it might have needed a trip to Cardiff.

You can remove old references by filing SR01, but it doesn't apply to addresses that were used for registered offices.
