I'm looking for some help to maintain our company website, which was built with Wordpress.

It fits our needs perfectly, so I'm not looking for any re-design etc.

All I need is simple stuff.. for instance, it took me ages to work out SSL and to get it working, I'm sure it would be a quick job for someone that knows what they are doing.

We have new quality accreditations, so I need to add logos etc, but I don't know how to do it and am scared to death of wrecking something.. likewise, adding and moving staff photos and correctly adding news and blog items that I regularly write.

Any suggestions as to what I should pay for this? I would think no more than 1-2 hours a month maximum.

Thanks in advance..

We do this for a lot of our clients who have WP sites.

SSL is easy if you know what you’re doing.

£100-£150 pcm should keep you ticking over

Evening Simon,

Cost depends a little on what you want and how complex your site is.
How many times a month do you want the site backing up ? If its s e-commerce Wordpress website with possibly WooCommerce I would suggest daily if not it can be monthly.
The very least you would want is the site plugins and templates versions kept up to date and a monthly back up taken.
Where is the site hosted on and do you have complete access to the site backend and hosting backend. To allow adjustment to the site.
Depending on where it's hosted you may have free SSL Licence that just needs configuring

Happy to audit the site and backend for you to give you an idea of price for maintenance/slight site adjustments on a monthly basis.

I also have a number Pistonheads clients

Cheers

Sam..

Another poster mentioned £100 - £150pcm and that's about right. I offer a monthly WP Maintenance service around those price points that covers a backup (needed more often if e-comm), plugin update and minor updates. It doesn't cover major updates if a plugin crashes the site or goes end-of-life, just the routine stuff and a few run of the mill edits.

That way the client has peace of mind of recent backup in case the hackers come calling and keeping plugins upto date reduces (not eliminates) the chances of a hack along with having a no-hassle route to having minor updates, news releases done.

So you have at least two PHers agreeing on what's a normal charge - that's gotta be a first! hehe

Thanks for the replies.

It's a pretty simple site, no e-commerce etc.

You're suggesting the kind of numbers that I was hoping, it's worth it to me at that price, as the cost of me buggering it up would no doubt be considerable.

It's not just the direct cost, it's the pure hassle factor of having to put it back together and getting someone to do it - particularly if there's no backups.

...and the sound of wailing & gnashing of teeth tends to upset the equilibrium of the folk on the shop floor!

We can gladly help on this OP and the majority of sites we build and maintain are bespoke Wordpress sites: https://tristanpalmerstudio.com/

Tricky to give exact figures without seeing the site, and knowing how well put together it is but assuming the quality of build is relatively good, and in good shape the above costs would be in the right ballpark.
