I’ve noticed recently that we are lacking clients leaving Google reviews even though we send out 20 plus a week plus reminders.

I tested it while with a client on Friday and it now looks like people need a Google account to leave a review.

Does anyone know if there is a workaround please?

I imagine the only workaround would be to have a google account!
Reviews need to match to actual people….
Although this suggests it is easily done with any email address?

Yep, this. It's the only limitation of Google reviews but you have to be able to show that they are genuine reviews. You can use thrid party suppliers for this but there is a smallish cost for doing so.

I do think people are getting a bit fed up with being asked for reviews for everything these days though so unless you were amazing or terrible, they are unlikely to bother reviewing you.

Businesses can look too keen for a review. I've had three reminders from a financial company so I'm even less likely than I was before.

Last year I bought a car 'mail order' from a dealer 100 miles away. Looked great in the advert. Before it had even arrived they asked for a review. Sadly the car was a basket case. The dealer didn't argue over the refund, but when I pointed out that I was £120 out of pocket on tax and insurance for the week before the engine had blown up, they said they were unable to cover that. So I pointed out that perhaps I should do the review they'd wanted... £120 arrived by return hehe

Ha ha, what a great bargaining tool that review was.

Thanks for the reply’s. We’re struggling to make the search for the business on Google maps but we will endeavour and find a way

Create a page on your site and link to that if they don't have a google acct. Then just post them on a dedicated testimonials page. This is how we did it (plus Google reviews plug in below) https://chargebase.co.uk/homes/testimonials/

Have you tried Trustpilot? There seems to be a number of these online review type places around and as a consumer, Google Reviews doesn't feature that highly on my radar.

or is it a case that you need to pay to be on Trustpilot?

Yes, there are many like that but all cost.
