I'm looking for options to keep some warmth in the factory this winter.
We've got old fashioned dangling plastic strips at the minute which are past their best.

One option is a high speed door - £11,000.
Another option is an "electric high velocity heated air curtain" - £9,000.

From a practical point of view I like the sound of the air curtain. Does anyone use one?

They had one at a place I worked at years ago. You had to close your eyes as you crossed it or nine times out of ten something got in your eye. Can't think it was cost effective going forward as I suspect it ate a fair amount of electricity.

Thanks. Hadn't thought about dust. They are meant to be positioned at a slight angle pointing outside I think. Fair point about the power usage. The one I was looking at would only activate when the door was opened. It wouldn't run all the time. Impossible to work out if running the blower is cheaper than the heat I'm losing though!

We ran through all the costs for improving the heating in our warehouse and concluded that providing people with decent thermal clothing was the best bet.

Anything that's blowing heat into an open space is going to be very expensive this year.

The company I worked for moved away from air curtain and went to fast doors. Now rolling it out at all sites based on economics.

We went to a rapid rise door and it was loads better as we used to just keep the old door open all day when using it.

Probably better providing staff with a heated gillet and gloves unless you need heat in the warehouse for whatever you store/do in there.
