Hi Guys,

Anyone any knowledge of Importation of products? We are thinking of importing from the far east.

What are the pit falls involved & costs of moving goods from the port to the point of storage.

Cheers

For the shipping your best bet is talk to a freight forwarder (there’s loads, just google). They’ll need to know the size & weight & location of whatever you want to bring in and they can advise on whether it’s best to fly it in or bring it by boat (also dependant on how quick you want it of course!) You also need to find out what import tariff the goods will have (contact Customs & Excise www.dti.gov.uk/ewt/import.htm). They have helplines - tell them what it is and they should advise. Once you know this you’ll know what percentage of duty you need to pay. Basically you’ll have the cost of your goods, freight & insurance, import duty & then VAT on the lot.
Hope this helps.

Hi Steve

Give me a call if you have any questions on the paperwork involved and how the VAT works.
