A couple of years ago a very learned friend of mine said that he reckoned the basic graph would look like an airplane landing (starting from late 2001)...

i.e. a drop then a smaller bounce back up, then a slight drop and, again, a smaller bounce up and so on. He reckoned this would go on for about 10 years.

So... it depends on how long you mean. But he said we wouldn't see a return to the "boom" years.

Don't know how accurate his prediction has been so far but it may be worth something?

I've also heard the boom years of the stock market are over for now.

I've been reading a very interesting book by Jim Rogers about commodities. His fund is doing very well.
