I run a specialist hobby website, www.sanjuannepomuceno.co.uk.. From what started as fun, much to my surprise in three years old it's had 37,000 hits, comes top in Google and appears to be virtually an authority on building that particular kit. As you can see from the Reviews page, it gets interest from all over the world and is highly regarded by visitors.

For example: one customer ordered his kit from a major retailer in New York, but it came without plans. He asked for them but was told it didn't come with any! So he mailed me for help and I told him the kit jolly did have plans and that he should ask the shop again to send them on. When he told them he'd been in touch with the owner of the site, they suddenly managed to find some plans and send them on!

So I thought I'd approach some major model retailers and ask them if they wanted to advertise. I could do an exclusive deal, or by geographical area, or accept anyone.

However, I have no idea what might be feasible charges for these options - so if anyone knows this area, I'd be grateful for some guidance.

Thanks!

two things - what do you mean by 'hits' and how many page impressions are delivered each month?

There is a market for sites with Google Page Rank (PR) to pass on (although this may well have changed or reduced for all I know). Having had a look at your website you don't appear to have any PR, even though you are ranking well on google, so that avenue is not open to you.

You could investigate Google adsense, where related ads if clicked gain you revenue, or alternatively you could try an affliate scheme with a retailer for that particular model. Maybe even Artesania Latina themselves.

It's very simplistic. I have a hit counter on the front page and it clocks up one each time. I don't have any paid-for stats as it was never my intention to try to sell space. So I can't supply prospects with the full 'media pack' like I'm sure you do; they'll just have to take my word for it, see the site and make their own judgment as to its worth.

How can that be?

That's the logical choice, but they keep a low profile and seem famous for never getting involved in anything: they don't even seem to seem to have a website!

I'll do some poking around on the places you mentioned; thanks.

Well you probably don't have an PR because you don't have many people linking to you.
Type this into google:
link:www.sanjuannepomuceno.co.uk/ all I can see is two links from www.modelismonaval.com, The other reason might be that the words your visitors are using to find you are not very competitive, so your current links are enough to get you quite a bit of traffic.

Try typing your sites into www.uptimebot.com/sql/one.php there are a lot more links to your site there.

If you are really interested in making a bit of money from your site you probably want to be getting a great deal more traffic and the best place I can point you to is: http://forums.seochat.com/

That's true, it's a very specific name.

Truly amazing - even one from the San Juan Tourist Board!

I don't want to make this full-time occupation (which professional webstuff like you fellows do is) - so, going back to my first question, finger in the air time, can anyone guesstimate fair rate for an advert? £50pa, £250? I have no idea on this one.
