anyone ever dealt with them?

seem to offering us a very good advertising package which we are more than happy to take and make use of with a local golf club. but have read some utter horror reports online about them and then. would like to hear if anyone has any first hand experience of dealing with them?

between the reviews online and a couple of shall we say questionable statements i'm looking to see If someone has first hand experience

Absolute bunch of...

Spent circa £3k with them a couple of years ago to 'sponsor a hole' at the local golf club, which we did.

We got an advert on the hole in question which never materialised, we got an advert on the fly-through app for the course, which hasn't been finished yet and we get a 20 second advert every so often on a screen in the clubhouse which I've not seen yet.

They did some artwork for us, which was good, but not £3k worth.

The club placed restrictions on when we could use our 'free rounds' and made it increasingly difficult for us.

They'll be all over you until you sign then you'll find it hard to deal with them.

Basically you're funding their development of the club app with your sponsorship, they pitch it to the club as a free app and then the club get pissed off with being inundated with people trying to book their free rounds of golf.

That's how I see it.

Edit: our Sales Director refers to them as ahole in one golf.

£3k for an advert on a hole on a golf course and screen ad in the club house?! How many people are going to be seeing that?

Well yes and no, it worked out good value for money, or it would have done if they'd stuck to what they promised. It also came with 40x 4 balls at said club.

We put boards in at football clubs and that's a tough enough sell and that's with a fixed audience of 1000's, we also don't charge anywhere near that (well we can but it'd be for prime positions, or maybe a pitch facing board).

We also work with Bolton Arena, £3k is around the top package and it includes far more than an advert on a hole and a screen ad in a club house, they also have a million visitors a year and throw in gym memberships (2 iirc) and use of the conference rooms.

Yes,

So far so good for me, 2 year package at a half decent surrey golf course including adverts and 24 x 4-balls over the 2 years for ''much cheapness!''

Isn't it more about being able to target a specific demographic rather than the total number of people who would see the advert?

Both are important. It's no good targeting a specific demographic if there's a limited audience. Looking at the reviews they're two year contracts with an unscrupulous rollover you need to cancel within the first six months to avoid being billed for a 3rd year, is an advert on a hole on a golf course and on the screen in a club house going to convert to sales equal to or above the initial advertising outlay?

you have to cancel, in writing, at least 6 months before the end of the contract.

Is there anything you can do to avoid renewing the contract? What defines the contract anyway, I didn’t sign anything, I just paid a fee for a service that bring any returns at all.

Tell them to f**k off and don't pay them. That's what we did. We didn't hear from them after a while.

Depends. Did you correspond over email, if so what was said?
Did they send you an agreement or terms and conditions? If there's anything that can be produced as evidence showing you accepted their services in exchange for payment then that can form a contract. If there's nothing between the two of you that highlights the length of the advertising term you might be able to argue you only signed up for 12 months.

They changed their trading name last January but it’s not A new company so any contract would still remain.

I live maybe 400 metres from the owner, and his director wife, and close to quite a few people who used to work for them but hate them now. All the issues seem to stem from the auto renewals, whether right or wrong.

Rumours were they were hoping to be bought out by sky a number of years ago but never happened and the business has never really taken off since.

They were still emailing me too, they've long been blocked. Wouldn't go anywhere near them, see above.

I did a quick search through Companies House, and Whole In One Golf and ClubHouseSportsMedia do appear to be completely unrelated, though interestingly with exactly the same MO.

The TrustPilot reviews for Whole In One Golf certainly make interesting reading. The company responses paint a certain picture for sure.

Definitely one for the block button.
