Hi all,

Is there anyway I can find out who is the director of a load of companies without having to pay for a full credit search?

Cheers

John

Yes - if you have the company names you can get this info through Companies House, last time I did it they had an online search system too.

Alex,

Thanks for that, I have had a look and they don't seem to list the directors names, am I doing something wrong (probably!)?

I use the companies house webiste alot-basic information is free-I think you have to pay for other information such as names of directors.

Tonker,

Thanks for the offer, but it's for about 80 companies (I just want the names for marketing purposes), I'll think I'll end up signing up for it.

Its about £2 - 4 quid per company I think (get trainees to do that sort of stuff nowadays so not entirely sure).

Alternatively, if you want directors names / information for marketing purposes, you might be better off contacting someone like Dunn & Bradstreet, who maintain very large lists of information on UK companies.

A fraction of the cost of a companies house search would net you contact information for directors, company addresses etc.

If you go to the panel marked "Tools to Help You", a pulldown list will then reveal a heading called "Download free company information". By following the on-screen instructions, you can click on that option and obtain some basic information about any company. However, this basic information DOES NOT include director details. To get that, you must pay a nominal sum to Companies House by credit or debit card. You access the further "pay" details by clicking on the message "Order Information on This Company".

At the moment the costs are -
Last set of accounts - £1
Last Company Return - £1
List of Appointments (i.e. Directors, Secretaries etc) - £1

Hope that helps.
