Financial Bods... Does this seem right?
Discussion
As some of you bods know, I'm about to undertake a course to become a Financial Advisor.
I replied to an ad for a Trainee Stockbroker/IFA job listed with a recruitment agency, a couple of days ago.
Received a call from a really nice guy today, but it didn't feel like a job application. It was more a sales pitch for a franchise or similar. The guy was a pretty good salesman (I should know!) but a few probing questions seemed to shake him a bit.
Basically this American Investment company, will pay you to train and qualify within 3 months. Give you a branch and an area, pay you £15k basic, and let you go and represent the company and earn your commission.
Now, that sounds great, and would enable me to avoid a poor spell whilst studying. The snag is, they have a £30k clawback if you qualify and leave.
Also, the commission doesn't sound great... In the first six months, they give a 'contact bonus' (£17.50 per new contact) and thereafter commission is 40% of net profit, not fee generated. Would this mean I would be out of pocket if the MD decided he wanted a new Ferrari?
Any Thoughts?
