Boat Importing
Discussion
I shipped a classic car out to a guy in Los Angeles.
It was far cheaper to use the Roll on/Roll off service from Southampton than using a container and so, if a boat trailer is with the boat, this may be a far cheaper option - but do make sure that whoever moves it to you insures it for every eventuality.
I used to know a guy who went to the US every holiday to buy either a Harley or Harley parts for himself and his mates. The savings he made on the parts, which he sold to his mates covered, the costs of his own stuff plus the shipping costs. Space is expensive so, if you use a container, try to put other stuff in as well if there's room. I don't know the differences, cost wise, between shipping a 20 ft or 40 ft container.
Hope this helps!
