I was wondering if any of you in the North West had received an e-mail purportedly from 'The Chamber' trying to sell directory listing space.

Believe me, you'll know if you've received it - they cocked up and I ended up with 5,000 of them; some people had as many as 10,000! This mail was actually from a publishing company, not the chamber, who are none too impressed:

The reason I'm asking is because this company are claiming it is not their fault:

So apparently it's a problem with someone else's server. So why has it never popped up before and why did they say it was a virus when we contacted them? Anyone know what it would have been, since there are about 5,000 or so businesses looking for compensation for wasted time! We lost a day and a half from our PCs downloading these e-mails, and our website was down! Even more annoying when we shouldn't be on the chamber's list anymore.

I have half a mind to enact our spam policy:

That'll be £2.5 million, please!

Nope. And I'm still a member (though I don't know why).

You were just unlucky by the sounds of it.
