Well I've finally done it and handed in my notice from this shit pot outfit I work for ....

My notice period is 3 months but historically everyone that has left the department has left after a month.

I decided to work the 3 months but I'm starting to regret it.

I'm getting all the shite jobs and the Manager is being arsey. I've worked here 20 years and sweated tears and blood for the place but they seem to have forgotten that.

How would I stand if I just walked after a month ? I did write on my notice I was giving 12 weeks but as I said everyone else that has left went after a month.

If you have a grievance, put it it writing & request a meeting. Under legislation which came into effect on October 1 they are obliged to deal with it expeditiously. If they don't, and you leave because the grievance is unbearable it's automatically unfair dismissal.

That is of course if you can't sort it out with them sensibly.

If you've got somewhere else to go, the alternative is to write & explain that you've tried to work your notice, but they've made your position untenable & disappear into the sunset. Their remedy is to take you to court for breach of contract. Is that likely do you think?

You say you've been there 20 years? Surely you can work out some sensible deal, presumably you've got a lot to bargain with.

Good luck.

I've just read your previous posts. If you are going into competition with them get your contract of employment checked by an expert. A little bit of planning now may save you a lot of pain later.
