Hi Ive got a few business ideas, mainly retail stuff.
I was thinking about having an online shop, and maybe a market stall of somesort.
I was wondering what I had to do,
ie register as self employed, vat register, Do I need to have a special licence to sell things on a street stall. Any helpful websites that someone can point me in the direction of to help me out.
thanks in advance.

For street stalls go to your local council. You'll need a license for the local area.

I'd seek out your local Business Support centre or similar to get the facts.

Check out some of the many threads on this forum requesting information on starting up a business. There have been some detailed and informative replies. The basic principles are the same for all businesses.

You do not HAVE to register for VAT unless your annual Turnover/Sales amount exceeds £58,000 - although you CAN register for VAT if you want to even if your turnover is below this level.

Which might sound crazy, but if you buy lots of things in and sell to businesses (ie VAT registered so can claim it back) you get an extra 17.5% margin. However if you sell to the public, it puts your prices up by 17.5%...
