Looks like I am going to be made redundant March next year and need to think about what I am going to do the options are :

1. Stay at home and look after the kids, would save over £1000 each moth in nursery fees.

2. Start up a small business, IT related

3. Get new job else where

4. Start new business non IT related

Thinking about option 4 but dont have any ideas, nothing to demanding but would like to make some money.

The thing with that is IT is a bit on demand and would not fit in easy with child care arrangments.

No, I meant make a business out of childcare!

Think the health and safety side of it is a nightmare, and your premises have to be inspected etc etc

Fuuny that should come up but we did think of setting up a nursery but ruled it out because of start up costs. Anyone tried it ?

f**king cool !!! you sell something which looks suspiciously like a rocket launcher AND uses propane!! nice! sorry - got a bit carried away

Mark - i looked into nursery costs for someone a while back - was looking at offering a day-time drop in centre for parents who want to go shopping without dragging their kids around and actually give the kids something vaguely educational and fun to do (paints etc...) I dont think the costs were that bad. If you intended to just have em running aroun your house it would be a nightmare, but if you had specifically ready rooms (and small brats dont need anything too big or exciting) then you have to safely child proof it, but thats about all - obviously you, yourself would need some 'Ive been checked and am not pyschotic' type qualificaition - but they aint hard to get.

Oh, and its a perfect cover for hiring a load of 21 y.o. swedish girls to help!!
