Hi all,

I'm on my placement year from uni and the company I am working for want to send me on a course.

I'm currently working in a Business Analysis role, and myself and my line manager have decided to do the PRINCE2 course. (Well the first stage at least!)

Can anyone recommend any books or websites to have a look at?

Thanks,

Phill

Once you've done it and gone into the real world you might want to understand PINO

Prince2 - project management by committee. Some good elements but a pain in the arse to stick to word for word in the real world if you want to get anything done.

Virtually a prerequisite for public sector work (but don't let that put you off ) and looks OK on a CV. Even better if it's free too.

Good for actually managing a project if you are keen to shuffle as much paper as the average ISO auditor.

Crap for ensuring the best solution is presented, it will allow you to write crap just as long as you are telling everyone how crap it actually is.

Only crap if you're not capturing project issues and analysing them correctly (agree on the Paperwork though.. there's loads of it )

..you'll struggle to get a job in IT project management without it (or a close equivalent) these days.

Cheers,
Matt.

True enough, but it does also work on the basis that the front level analysts can actually analyse.
