Bit of a long shot, but I've just got an error I've not had before on Sage accounting software. Don't know what happened, but Sage shut itself down (it's normally pretty robust so I don't know what happened). Anyway, now when I try to restart it says my user is already connected. Have tried re-starting PC, nosing around the dirs to try to suss out what files it would be looking at but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Prob should have posted this on a different forum but am trying to get VAT return finished so am hoping someone's going to see this soon and give me a miracle cure.

When sage crashes it does not delete the user details out of the dta file hence when you restart it thinks you are still logged in. The only thing to do is okay through and it will force you back in. Do a Check data to check the crash didn't corrupt anything and you'll be fine.

HOpe that helps

Yes- I've come across this now and then. Just click "OK" and ignore the message. It should let you in.

If it's version 8.2 you're using and you don't have the service pack installed it won't give you the option to remove the user, it'll just say 'can't connect you at this time'.

If this is the case, search your c drive (or whichever drive you have your data on) for a file called queue.dta, there will be probably at least a couple. You need to delete these files (only the one in the data directory you're using, but they are created as soon as you log in so there is no problem deleting them all). Once deleted you will be able to log in as normal.

If you have any problems, e-mail me at tony.mather@sage.com

Thanks everyone for your prompt responses !!

Unfortunately if you click OK it just shuts itself down again.

Uriel - thanks - a friend of mine just suggested the same thing and that's done the trick.

Thanks all again - fantastic place this isn't it !!
