Does anyone have a problem with staff using the internet for personal use etc?

Sorry, I know this is a serious question... but this is Pistonheads!!!

Alternatively, if you do have a problem, it may be worth implementing an IT usage policy if you don't already have one.. Using that, you should be able to specify "reasonable use"....

Then, if you have an issue with productivity you can refer to this clause of "reasonable use" and affect some form of disciplinary..

Not really. So long as it's not in work time. Happy with having peak internet useage at about 1:30pm.
If they're the kind of person who spends the whole day on the internet, they'll find another way to do all work if you take it away.

Hi,

I posted a similar question here a couple of weeks ago and have since prepared an " internet and email policy" document which I have had employees sign up to. It sounds a little draconian but most people have been fine with it.

Generally if people are carrying out their duties / roles well, then there isnt a problem with them using internet etc at any time - although if someone is taking the p155, then its nice to have something to fall back on.
