Hello everyone.

Im just about to appoint our first employee and was wondering if anyone out there had an industry standard e-mail and internet policy document that I could use as part of their contract of employment.

I dont mind creating my own, however I thought I would check here first.

All help gratefully received. I can be mailed with attachments at owen@ashton-consulting.co.uk .

Thanks

Alternatively you could be radical and say you can use internet but no porn and E-Mail as long as the job gets done.

Then you can use Objective setting to make sure that they are giving good value.

That's what it's like at my company. We are a big multinational firm, and essentially they say use the internet and e-mail all you like (obviously no dodgy sites!) but if your work suffers or you don't achieve what you should be, expect us to come down hard!!

Kind of a whole "responsability" thing

That way they'd feel free to...I don't know....search for a car when they need to, or renew their insurance, but would still get work done. If they take the mick, come down hard!!!! (put a "fair use" policy in their contract)

I have taken that route, we run a pretty open ship, the doc basically says as you've suggested, providing the work gets done do as you like except for porn etc.

The pistonheads dig was my rubbish attempt at irony
