I am busy developing a vehicle security device but need some advice.

I guess that once I have all the kinks worked out, I can't just sell it to Joseph Public. Would I need it tested by anybody? I'm not looking for Thatcham approval just yet, just someone to say; "go ahead, it's fine."

I believe car seccrity comes under an EC bloody directive, and if it involves laser or rader equpment it needs to be tested. Don't quote me on that though!

No, it's an anti-hijack device, however, maybe I could incorporate a hi-powered laser, that might sort the scrotes!

If it connects to the dc supply in the car it will come under the vehicle EMC directive (e mark).

For the UK it is the Vehicle Certification Agency who are responsable for approvals.
