Please could i ask some general advice on marketing.
I have recently made a website (simple one)and would like to test your reaction to its offer. So, would you pursue it? is there anythhing that puts you off?
Is the layout ok?

It all looks a bit big if that makes sense.
Try using a smaller font and smaller graphics. That would make it look more professional, as it stands it looks a bit childish.

Sorry, you did ask

Hi all,

Thanks for input so far, I hadn't thought of it that way, I can easily reduce the font / pics etc. Will work on it. Any more suggestions please ??

A less garish look would make it more pro IMO. There are loads of templates on the web which, while not being perfect can often give good ideas about placement of elements. Alternatively look at some sites you like the look of, identify exactly what it is you like the look of and replicate that.
Hope that helps.

A TK domain is a no-no for any business that wants to be taken seriously.

The site is also missing a vital ingredient. It doesn't say what the 'business' does. Call me a cynic but it looks like another get rich quick pyramid selling scheme...

Hi,

Firstly, let me say I can't code a web page for toffee - so credit to you for getting a site up. However I can be quite critical on them as I tend to use them a lot.

Obviously, there are the points already mentioned and I'm sure people will point these out to you.

My one main gripe is the download time - the main page is over 300k. I'm on dialup at the momment with speep of around 3k a second, it's just to big. I'm waiting nearly a minute before I see anything.

Try to keep your home page quick to load and "punchy" remember the frontpage is your first impression. You can't please all of the people all of the time but a clean informative well layed out first page will probably intice people to read it all and to continue on through your site.

Good web sites don't just appear - they evolve. No one gets it right first time - just look at some of the old historical web sites for sun/microsoft/IBM.

Keep going,

JC

Hi Ted,

Thanks for your input, mmmm could alway's get a new domain..... if you go to the last page and follow the "How it's done" button in the bottom left that should help. All above board I might add.

So, tell me again... what exactly is being sold?

I think it's more a typeface thing than size. When I see some 'professional' sites they use microscopic text crammed into a box that only takes up half the screen. If I had a soft CRT I'd have no chance of reading it. Perhaps there's a happy medium to be struck!

Simon, try not to use pictures to display text. Always use normal floating text, since not all computers have the same fonts installed, and there might be different fonts on one page.
It's also easier to adjust all font sizes in one go (see above posts).

Haven't checked the content, but one thing confuses me: there are lots of photos of people posing with cars; is it some form of drivers club?

Hi Bodo,

Thanks for the input, cars are what people bought with the extra money they are making part time. Some spend it on holiday's or just to say "Yes" more often to their family, what ever you like doing with some spare cash and time. A network system removes the overheads of conventional business strains and time restraints but bringas the rewards as the company are paying you a bonus for advertising their products. Simple system, ideal for people who would like more without taking on a larger responsobility at work. I find it works well, bought my TVR !! Thaks for your input.

Simon,

I'm always intrigued/suspicious that despite the fact that it works (good on you if you got your TVR with it), the websites never spell out what the job/scheme is. The same is true of the TryThis site linked to from yours.

Why is that?

Hi Ted, thanks for your interest.
Well, usually people prejudge what I do without really knowing anymore than a name. So I guess that's why. I am trying to build my own website and really "successpages" was my first attempt and not knowing how to get the enquiry to be delivered to an e mail address, I linked to my other (bought) site till I can learn enough. Your point is a valid common remark I get from time to time but I have a really good part time income which is more than my teaching salary. I spent 2 1/2 years to get there whilst having already spent 22 years for an employer to earn 1/2 what I do spare time. So my web skills need working on to show people what really is on offer, depends if people are looking or happy as they are. Thanks again for your interest.

Why are you evading the question Ted has asked?

What is the product? What is the job?
Only a fool would sign up to something that they knew nothing about?
Does it cost me to get this vital info????
Does it cost me intially to start earning this extra income?

Fair enough. These 'jobs' always seem to rely on recruiting more people rather than selling products though.

Time for some lunch.

I thought same as above, I always find this with any of these things, nobody will actually tell you what you have to do/sell/promote...care to comment simon?

no offence meant, just curious.
