One of the insurers has confirmed they will not cover car keys repair and computer, phone and tablet repair but will cover domestic appliance repair.

Any suggestions for small business insurance or should I just Google local brokers?

Have gone away for half term. Still haven't got the flip part of the key working and have watched the sellers video on YouTube again and it appears you can't re-use the old key as it won't fit which wasn't what I was expecting.

Personally I can think of nothing more liable to be a complete ballache and more trouble than it's worth than selling refurbished electronics to members of the public, lbut I hope you prove me wrong. Best of luck with it.nu

I'm on minimum wage for part time contract for a job I don't really care about.

I'm looking for similar side gigs to the key idea. Low startup cost.

Don't have a tiktok account but do have Facebook
Can do Shopify websites
Don't mind importing in small quantities from overseas
Don't mind having to ship stuff myself

Thanks

As the key idea isn't going to be a goer I'm waiting on the insurance broker on whether I can offer a warranty to make a difference to the competition

I often see people in local Facebook groups stating they have broken their phone and ask for recommendations for people to fix the phone. There are often comments about the place only uses fake or poor quality parts. As I've broken my own smartphone screen I've ordered an OEM quality new screen from a UK supplier. There is a repairing website with lots of guides on how to fix various consumer electriconic items so will follow the guide and see how it goes.

I'm hoping that all of the stuff is all the same and will get quicker the more you do. I'm going to check with Apple and Google on how to offer a genuine component to offer a price difference between OEM and genuine Apple and Google stuff

In that case, I'd draw up my own warranty. It'll give peace of mind to the buyer. For instance, when I bought from Eporsch, they said they provided their own warranty... and they stuck to it.
True to form my laptop power supply has given up as my screen is being shipped. This means I won't be able to look up the replacement screen instructions until sorted

Drama over as thanks to Amazon aa new charger arrive No sign of the replacement screen for my phone though.

Have contacted Apple about suppliers of genuine parts hoping they will feel sorry and let me buy direct them which would be massive leg up a one man band. No luck with Google though so if anyone know a contact email for Google for same info asked Apple would be great as can't call for medical reasons.

Also do you think offering smartwatch servicing will have any demand as you can buy the parts?

No idea - do people damage iwatches often?

How about the ability to upgrade older iwatches? I understand the first iwatch is pretty much bricked these days?
Thanks for the suggestion, will look into it.

I'm clearing out my mum home as she is moving and have found few old data cables which I was going to sell on eBay. I can see other sellers on the site selling cables with combinations of length/colour/connectors and was thinking of starting the same

Got time at the weekend to finally attempt to fix the screen. Was going well until slightly damaged the battery, causing it to leak.Fortunelty was doing it outside so dumped the bits into water straight away . My wife one word was that the reason phone shops exist is because they are complicated and repairs should be done by qualified staff. My view is that the more you do the quicker safer you become.

I've ordered a new phone fromAlliexpress which is due to arrive this week. The intention of repairing the broken screen phone was to get some money back on ebay.

Slightly off topic but it’s still a business idea.
I advertised on the Next Door app and did a very basic Wix website for Grave tendering and flower laying, all services.

It was for my wife who I’m always throwing into little test projects. I had her on Shepper 2 years ago.

Anyway at £50 a clean up (1-2 hours) she can be busy 24/7 with the enquiries from free adverts.

You’ll need a decent strimmer.
Thanks for the recommendation. For medical reasons I have permanently given up driving and my wife is always busy with dropping off the kids etc. I suppose I could sub-contract the one's my wife doesn't drop me off.
