Say Hello To Katy
Discussion
Well I sold my Boxster and am now the proud owner of an Atlantis blue Land Rover Defender 90 50th anniversry called Katy. It's the first time I have named a car and is homage to the Austing K2Y from Ice Cold In Alex.
Well what an absolutely brilliant vehicle. It is an absolute hoot to drive with a 4.0 V8 mated to a 4 speed ZF gearbox. Its actually (in the current UK motoring climate - don't get me started!) a lot more fun than the Boxster!
I will update my profile when I get some pictures of my new girl.
Thanks to James (Defender50th) for all the buying advice

Cammers,
Yes I tried to view that one but I couldn't arrange it around work. So I ended up buying one from Guy Salmon Land Rover. I would certainly recommend driving one they are a hoot! The only downside is fairly grim fuel economy but on the other hand you get a grumbling V8 to play with and the performance is pretty astonishing for a Defender. I have certainly embarassed a few saloons this week

I did have a drive of one last year and was very impressed! It was a much better ride than I had expected and it was pretty quick too! I would have bought it too, but by the time the dealer got back to me with a p/ex price for mine, it had been sold!
I remember last year there was an Overfinch converted 50th, fitted with their 5.7ltr engine! It was pricey at over 20k but it had 350bhp! That must have really shifted!

Now that would be fun...
James French will do a 4.6 supercharged version with 300 bhp / 300 lbft which translates to 6.8 / 120+. Very nice but as with the Overfinch you would need membership of OPEC to run it.
Just had a traffic light G.P. with a youth in a maxxed up nova (big zorst / massif alloys / bangin' system / etc.) - sorry couldn't resist and yes i know it's irresponsible, but the look as I left him was worth it No wonder i'm only getting 15 mpg!

I don't know how fast it is? I think the standard is about 11 - 12 seconds to sixty.
Defender50th tells me that if you change the transfer box for a higher ratio (1.2 - 1.4), which is better suited to UK speeds, it drops to about 9.5 which is pretty good for 1.8 tonnes.
And yes it's on my list of tweaks
I took it for a gentle off road within a few hours of getting it home! I'm looking for some greenlanes that are not too severe for some fun. Unfortunately, i've been working like a dog recently and haven't had time to look into it yet. Still it's nice to gently rumble home after a 12 hour shift The feeling of air and space is fantastic especially on a sunny day!
