Sii Discovery Recall
Discussion
I was too late, mine broke.
The ACE warning light came on (amber) during a long distance drive. Hand book said carry on and see the dealer asap.
If the light was Red I should stop.
So, I carry on for another hour. When I stop I see smoke from the engine bay.
To cut a long story short, the hydraulic oil had escaped through a crack in the pipe, the pump continued to pump and burnt out.
Landrover said it was not due to the recall but gave us 50% off all the parts and labour.
Landrover were great! *** (after we pointed out that the handbook said to keep driving).
However be warned that the ACE pump does not cut out if there is no oil in the resevoir.

They launched a mass recall for 250,000 Discovery Series IIs and Defenders. There are a number of issues that the vehicles are being recalled for.
The first is for Discovery Series IIs with chassis numbers from SALLTGM94YA263532 to SALLTGM944A836580. A banjo bolt for the ACE system may come loose and allow fluid to leak from the joint. The oil may then cause an underbonnet fire.
The second affects Discoverys from 3A805635 to 3A814411. The throttle pedal may stick in the open position when the pedal is released.
The third is for Discoverys and ABS equipped Defenders. A leak from the ABS modulator may cause a partial or total loss of the braking system. The affected vehicles are XA900016 to XA907213, XA201612 to YA846241, XA162896 to YA199999 and YA600000 to and YA671407.
If you have an affected vehicle, or are unsure as to whether you are affected by the recall, contact your dealer as soon as possible.
